Arranca esta sexta-feira, 8 de novembro, em Faro, a terceira edi\u00e7\u00e3o do The Modernist Weekend, o evento que celebra a arquitetura modernista. Os desafios e as oportunidades v\u00e3o estar em an\u00e1lise numa confer\u00eancia e h\u00e1 visitas guiadas para enquadrar as constru\u00e7\u00f5es que se encontram em v\u00e1rios pontos da cidade.\u00a0

As visitas guiadas levam os participantes a edif\u00edcios privados, desde as influ\u00eancias da Bauhaus \u00e0s casas da Praia de Faro. Alguns dos pontos de interesse s\u00e3o a oportunidade de visitar o ic\u00f3nico edif\u00edcio Tridente com Leanne Cloudsdale, do projeto Concrete Communities; as vilas modernistas com orienta\u00e7\u00e3o do arquiteto Victor Hugo Faustino, especialista na obra de Manuel Gomes da Costa, com uma perspetiva acad\u00e9mica sobre a arquitetura modernista de Faro; e a centen\u00e1ria Casa 1923, exemplar \u00fanico de Arte Nova com elementos decorativos Art D\u00e9co, recuperada pela PAr \u2013 Plataforma de Arquitectura, em 2022, conduzida por uma das autoras do projeto, V\u00e2nia Fernandes. H\u00e1 ainda uma visita pela Praia de Faro conduzida pelo artista Richard Walker.\u00a0

Para os amantes da fotografia, V\u00edtor Martins, da ALFA \u2013 Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Livre de Fot\u00f3grafos do Algarve, depois de tr\u00eas d\u00e9cadas de trabalho como fot\u00f3grafo e galerista nos EUA, conduz dois workshops em que revela a arte de fotografar os edif\u00edcios nas ruas da capital algarvia, na sexta-feira e s\u00e1bado, das 14h \u00e0s 15h. De salientar a visita, em portugu\u00eas, com os arquitetos Teresa Valente, da C\u00e2mara Municipal de Faro, e Gon\u00e7alo Vargas, que fazem o percurso entre a Rua de Berlim at\u00e9 ao edif\u00edcio Tridente, no s\u00e1bado, pelas 15h. A participa\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 gratuita, sujeita a inscri\u00e7\u00e3o pr\u00e9via.\u00a0

\u00abFaro Identity and Heritage: Challenges and Opportunities\u00bb d\u00e1 o mote para a confer\u00eancia, que acontece no s\u00e1bado, pelas 17h45, na F\u00e1brica da Cerveja. Integram o painel, Ricardo Agarez, arquiteto, historiador de arquitetura e investigador no ISCTE \u2013 Instituto Universit\u00e1rio de Lisboa, com v\u00e1rios livros publicados, entre os quais \u00abA Constru\u00e7\u00e3o do Algarve\u00bb (2023), em que reflete sobre o Modernismo na constru\u00e7\u00e3o da identidade da regi\u00e3o; Paul Tierney, jornalista, colaborador dos jornais brit\u00e2nicos The Guardian e The Independent, autor do artigo \u00abA miracle of design: Faro, the Palm Springs of Portugal\u00bb (The Guardian, Outubro 2023); e Leanne Cloudsdale, fundadora do projeto Concrete Communities, que fomenta o di\u00e1logo entre designers, agentes culturais e ambientalistas para compreenderem a influ\u00eancia da arquitetura no bem-estar da comunidade. O impacto clim\u00e1tico na constru\u00e7\u00e3o e o papel do Modernismo no turismo s\u00e3o alguns dos temas que v\u00e3o estar em an\u00e1lise. A confer\u00eancia \u00e9 em ingl\u00eas e a entrada \u00e9 livre. At\u00e9 1 de dezembro vai estar tamb\u00e9m patente a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o coletiva \u00abin bloom\u00bb, na F\u00e1brica da Cerveja. Com curadoria de Jos\u00e9 Jesus, conta com os artistas Jo\u00e3o Canh\u00e3o, Leandro Marcos, Miguel Cheta, Ricardo Coelho, Richard Walker e Tiago Batista.\u00a0

The Modernist Weekend \u00e9 uma organiza\u00e7\u00e3o de The Modernist em parceria com a Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Picada Cultural e conta com o apoio do Munic\u00edpio de Faro e da sec\u00e7\u00e3o regional do Algarve da Ordem dos Arquitetos. A iniciativa pretende mobilizar os residentes, arquitetos e investigadores, os agentes culturais e a autarquia, atrav\u00e9s de v\u00e1rias iniciativas que pretendem sensibilizar para a import\u00e2ncia de preservar um conjunto art\u00edstico \u00fanico. Em 2023, The Modernist Weekend contou com 450 participantes, a maioria estrangeiros oriundos, sobretudo, do Reino Unido, Fran\u00e7a, Alemanha e Estados Unidos da Am\u00e9rica. A participa\u00e7\u00e3o nas visitas e nos passeios est\u00e1 sujeita a inscri\u00e7\u00e3o pr\u00e9via. As open houses custam 10 euros e t\u00eam a dura\u00e7\u00e3o de 30 a 45 minutos; os walking tours duram entre 1h30 a duas horas e custam 20 euros por pessoa. O workshop fotogr\u00e1fico custa 15 euros e tem a dura\u00e7\u00e3o de uma hora.\u00a0

A fechar a programa\u00e7\u00e3o da terceira edi\u00e7\u00e3o, no domingo, realiza-se um brunch, no restaurante & cocktail bar Elementos, localizado na praia de Faro, com vista privilegiada da Ria Formosa.
