Estas surgiram, no \u00e2mbito do projeto em curso, financiado pelo CRESC 2020, <em>BALSA, Searching the Origins of Algarve<\/em>, coordenado pela Universidade do Algarve em parceria com o Centro de Ci\u00eancia Viva de Tavira, o Munic\u00edpio de Tavira e a Dire\u00e7\u00e3o Regional de Cultura do Algarve.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A campanha deste ano incidiu em terrenos da antiga Quinta das Antas, em \u00e1rea perif\u00e9rica daquela urbe romana. \u00c0 semelhan\u00e7a de anos anteriores, os trabalhos tiveram uma componente de dete\u00e7\u00e3o geof\u00edsica e de escava\u00e7\u00e3o. Foram utilizados um geomagnet\u00f3metro e um tom\u00f3grafo, pela equipa da <em>Unidad de Geodetecci\u00f3n<\/em> da Universidade de C\u00e1dis, com o intuito de cruzar as leituras recolhidas do subsolo por estes aparelhos com os dados obtidos por georadar, nos anos anteriores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Com base nestes dados procederam-se a escava\u00e7\u00f5es junto \u00e0 Ria Formosa para conhecer detalhes sobre um importante e extenso complexo dedicado \u00e0 transforma\u00e7\u00e3o de preparados de peixe, permitindo conhecer alguns tanques, onde se produziam molhos e pastas de peixe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De momento, os dados apontam para que estas f\u00e1bricas, ou parte delas, tenham funcionado nos s\u00e9culos I e II d.C., sendo controladas por uma grande e rica casa (<em>villa<\/em>) que se situava numa plataforma mais elevada a pouco mais de 100 metros. Parece que ap\u00f3s o abandono desta <em>villa<\/em>, ainda no s\u00e9culo II, pelo menos parte das f\u00e1bricas ter\u00e3o continuado a funcionar at\u00e9 aos s\u00e9culos IV ou mesmo V, de acordo com cer\u00e2micas dessa \u00e9poca encontradas sob o derrube de um telhado que preencheu um dos tanques escavados. Desta grande e rica casa escavou-se uma divis\u00e3o com um pavimento de mosaico. S\u00e9culos depois da casa ter sido abandonada e, aparentemente, quando os restos da casa j\u00e1 estavam soterrados e n\u00e3o se viam, implantou-se uma sepultura estruturada com grandes pedras, cobertas por ladrilhos argamassados, o que obrigou a cortar um dos muros e parte do pavimento de mosaico. Esta sepultura apresenta algumas caracter\u00edsticas t\u00edpicas das primeiras sepulturas crist\u00e3s que se conhecem na regi\u00e3o a partir do s\u00e9culo V.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neste momento, os objetivos essenciais do projeto que visavam determinar com bases cient\u00edficas, o per\u00edmetro urbano da cidade romana de Balsa e o grau de preserva\u00e7\u00e3o das suas ru\u00ednas foram, globalmente, atingidos. De sublinhar que o avan\u00e7o do conhecimento s\u00f3 foi poss\u00edvel gra\u00e7as ao apoio de alguns propriet\u00e1rios dos terrenos, onde decorreram os trabalhos, bem como a colabora\u00e7\u00e3o das entidades parceiras e dos estudantes das Universidades do Algarve e de Lisboa que participaram nestas investiga\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Terminou, na passada sexta-feira, dia 15 de julho, a campanha de escava\u00e7\u00f5es, na cidade romana de Balsa.
